Kanso

This logo was designed for a project in art school, where the task was to create branding for a garden planning app. The app’s concept focuses on helping users design and organize their gardens with a clear, structured approach. I decided to name the app Kanso, a Japanese word meaning «simplicity» or «clarity», which reflects its mission to help users find clarity and ease in decorating their gardens.

Concept

After the briefing it was time to think of a concept and research who my clients are and what needs they have. Who has a garden and what type of people are they. I decided to to make a simplified app that helps the user to find clarity in their garden and from that idea came to mind

Naming

I wanted the name of the app to have a hidden meaning that aligned with its purpose. After experimenting with various options, the name Kanso came to life. Meaning «simplicity» and «clarity» in Japanese, it perfectly reflects the app's mission to help users create clear and organized garden designs.

Sketches

I created a logo using the Golden Circle method, drawing inspiration from the Zen garden. The design features a central element, symbolizing stones, with surrounding patterns reminiscent of the sand in Zen gardens. These patterns evoke a sense of clarity and balance. To complete the design, I incorporated a leaf to represent the plants that grow in the garden, bringing together both nature and structure in a harmonious way.
